Hey — I’m Hayden, the guy behind RYD Overland.

I’m a veteran of Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), a husband, and a dad to four young, adventurous boys. Getting outside, off-grid, and unplugged is more than a lifestyle — it’s how my wife and I are choosing to raise our sons: in nature, not in front of screens.

After years of testing ruck packs, minimalist camp setups, and backcountry gear, I built RYD Overland to cut through the noise and help others like you find reliable, tested gear without wasting time or money.

I’m newer to the idea of trailer ownership — but I’m fully invested in the overlanding community and already on a path to build my own squaredrop overland trailer from the ground up. Every item I review, recommend, or feature on this site is something I’m genuinely considering for my personal build or already using on my trips.

My goal is simple:

Add value to the community through real-world testing, minimalist outdoor experience, and honest gear guidance.

If you’re just getting started or deep into trailer mods, I’m here to share the tools, guides, and gear that actually hold up when the trail gets rough.

Thanks for being here — and thank you for supporting the site by using affiliate links when you shop. Every click helps me keep testing gear and building the dream.

See you out there!

What We Don’t Do

We don’t flood this site with fake reviews, hype gear, or products we’d never actually consider using.

Here’s what we avoid at RYD Overland:

  1. No fluff lists filled with random junk just to rank on Google

  2. No luxury gear pushed for commission if it doesn’t serve a real outdoor need

  3. No content that ignores real-world trailer and trail use

What We Do Use AI For (And Why)

We use AI tools to save time researching specs, compiling field data, and organizing helpful comparisons — but every product recommendation is based on real-world relevance to our trailer build, minimalist gear philosophy, and the kinds of overland trips we take as a family.

We write, review, and edit everything with the goal of helping you make smarter, faster gear decisions — not just filling space.
